Sullivan on President Obama rejecting the war options for Afghanistan:
Instead of engaging in adolescent tests of whether a president is "tough" or "weak", we actually have an adult prepared to allow the various choices in front of us be fully explored.Predictably, the rump of Cheney apologists remaining in the GOP have jumped past the merits of staying or going in Afghanistan and gone into spin mode that any aversion to war, no matter the circumstance, demonstrates a dereliction of duty as commander in chief and leads to the inevitable conclusion that Obama is weak, unpatriotic and sacrificing the sacrifices that have already been made. It shows just how hawkish the expectations game is that the war generals of St. Ronnie of Reagan are advising Obama to slow down. Instead of hyperventilating over how quickly we can up the headcount, I'd like to hear the pro-war crowd explain the mission.
